New Boy!

#1 Post by johngarnett »

Hi! everyone,
Just found this site and thought I would tag along if OK?
I'm in Cornwall. My interest now is target rifle etc. Sorry if it's boring to some but at least I'm shooting! Used to shoot handguns a lot until...., well, you all know the rest.
Look forward to reading the info.
Good shooting to you all.

Main shooting is on Bodmin Moor, more like survival skills this time of year!.
Yes I 'do' the Imperial and Phoenix meetings and Jersey Open comp plus some club shoots.
Now I'm 'retired' the idea was to do more, but it all costs!

Retired or not, it is an expensive hobby we all have. Shooting is all we do. Nothing else. We eat sleep dream shooting. When we have days off there is no need to plan anything because it will surely be shooting related. Life is what we try and do inbetween. LOL

Actually Ovenpaa fixed the dog flap yesterday, I was impressed. It was all loose and he found the right screws and fixed it. No more drafts.
This was of course done inbetween posting on the forum and watching tv and I think I did see a picture of a wooden old rifle on his laptop he was figuring something out about. Yup, shooting.

What rifle do you shoot John? I shot next to a TR shooter at 200m one afternoon who was every bit as good with his Swing as I was with a 'scoped AI and ever since I have always has huge respect for TR shooters and had a 'virtual slot' for a Sinn or Swing or anything Laurie Ingram and/or Roro was involved with, well maybe apart from RPA.

Heh! That will set Christel off on one :D

Ovenpaa et al,
Rifles here are:
1. 357 Marlin L/A & Ruger 10/22 for days when it's too cold for Bodmin Moor and the local range beckons.
2. N0.4 Mk2 303 Lee Enfield, as issued,for military comps.
3. Remy 700 308 AICS stock and scoped for McQueen comps.
4. 2 x RPA 7.62 for TR use. I'm experimenting with one for Fclass TR class.

Don't be put off by the 'backsides and bootsoles' appearance of TR. 99% are a great bunch. We all took our first shot once. Try it and admit it's your first shoot and you'll get help. If we don't know, we can't help. I had a bad start but now I'm very happy to help when asked.
Regards
JohnG

A nice and varied selection to cover all bases John, I shoot a No4 Mk1 as well as 7,62X51 and a 7mm SAUM based wildcat with a P14 for SR comps as I prefer it's issue sights. Please do not be put off by my RPA comment :) The integrity and ability of the RPA action is not in doubt and it is a stunningly good action, it is just that I found the attitude of the company rather odd when I spoke to them last. There are a few active and budding F Class shooters on the forum including one that I can think of with an RPA actioned F/TR rifle.
