Wanted a set of go and no go gauges for 6.5x55.

Alpha - you are chasing your ar**!

Your chamber is what it is - the idea is you use your reloading dies to make your brass fit the chamber. What's the problem?

If your rifle has proof marks it will have been gauged. If it has a tight neck, it should have something like '288 nk' stamped next to the proof mark.

Yes and I have taken on board what he has said. Good advice and I am working on it. In the mean time.

As the title says has any one a set of 6.5x55 go no go gauges for sale please.

why don't you make your own set?

also, what will you do if it gauges outside of the no-go?

finally, how much would you spend on a set of gauges compared to how much it costs to reproof?

I'm not really bothered about the cost as long as its not extortionate.
I would like a set of 6.5x55 gauges what's wrong with that.
I only have one 6.5x55 rifle if it gauges over the no go gauge I don't know at the moment what I will do. I could scrap the barrel or scrap the whole thing. I don't expect it to fail its been proofed so I guess they will have gauged it but it would be nice to be able to check for myself. then I would know for definite.

At the moment I'm working on making the case fit as suggested.

Any way as I said wanted 6.5x55 go and no go gauges. Why. Because I can.

I have been working to make the cases fit as you suggested I understand were you are coming from. My initial probing is not very encouraging new brass trimmed to length on a Wilson trimmer.
PPU stiff bolt close. Norma not as stiff. FNM target stiff. Oh well onward and up ward.

Seriously I'd stop now until you can verify the chamber is within Saami Spec, playing with case length/shoulder bumping in order to fit an unknown problem is a potentially fatal accident waiting to happen.

Three perfectly good makes of FLS and corectly trimmed empty case give you stiff bolt closure, this is telling you there is a major difference to a normal 6.5x55 chamber, it may well be right on the very limit of Saami minimum spec but even so factory ammunition would still fit such a chamber.

It may well be tight necked or some other wildcat chamber with an adjusted shoulder angle, what did the previous owner say about it?, do the proof marks give any indications?.

If you need a local(ish) gun smith Dave Folwell at BowTec in Birtley is the closest I can think of.

I appreciate your concern but I have all ready stopped I have no intention of firing this rifle again if ever unless I am completely satisfied it is fit for purpose.
I'm prepared to try and fit the cases to the rifle and even check it with a set of go no gauges. If its a dud Ill bin it. The rifles monetary value is of no consequence.
