Prone rifle of choice?

So, assuming money was no object whats the current must have .22 rimfire rifle for prone target shooting (and what sort of ££ are we talking)?

I like my Savage Model 5 for prone out to 200 yards, built around 1948 it cost me a tenner delivered however that may not be what you had in mind :)

presuming you're talking about dioptre/straight jacket prone TR shooting.

Bleikers seem to do the best for group size from anecdotal information when batch testing with lapua, and also hold the records for ELEY:

Personally, when starting out I stumped up as much as I could afford and got an Anschutz 2213. Last year I batch tested ammunition with Lapua and got a 50 yard 10 shot group of 15.06mm edge to edge. So it shoots better than I do or will for some time.

If money was no object, a Bleiker would be on the cards, as it stands however the Anschutz shoots plenty good enough to hit possibles at 25 yards...

Sorry yes, I should have been more specific. Jacket, sling and dioptre sights.

My current rifle is an Anschutz 1913 stainless barrelled action (i think) in a G&E RS111 stock.

Its just that I'm being pressured to sell my motorbike :-( so i might have a chunk of money spare!

What sort of level are you shooting or aspiring to shoot?
If money is no object than a Bleiker in a Grünig Hybrid stock will probably set you back £7k plus for a complete rifle. Very accurate and the stock is much more adjustable than the Bleiker. I'm not a fan of the aluminium Grünig stocks.
Grünig R3 iin Hybrid stock as above. Very nice, but the Bleiker is just pipping them on the Eley range. But would that really make a difference when you are firing it?
I was very tempted by the new Walther KK500 £3783 from Edinkille/Intershoot.
Would you be in a hurry for it. The lead time may sway you. KK500 possibly from stock (if you are lucky), Grünig 3 to 5 months, Bleiker??

If money were no object I would have gone for the Grunig R3 with Carbon Fibre Hybrid stock. As money was in the equation, I eventually upgraded my Anschutz 1813 Supermatch to a Walther KK500.

The KK500 out of the box will shoot to World Championship levels by all accounts. Unless you're Matt Emmons or Peter Sidi (are they still the smallbore cool kids?) I'm not sure double that for a Bleiker/G&E/oojamaflip is worth it.

Mind you, want doesn't always equate with need, as my gun cabinet would attest :)

Hmm, yes, the Walther looks good value when you consider that it comes with sights and butt plate. I'd get around £2k for my rifle as well...
