Re: CMMG mk4 .22 Stockists
There are plenty of as the mod puts it "Pretendy AR's" out there, and various stockists. Over the years CMMG does seem to have come out tops with regards to sales, but that could be just down to the slightly lower prices than others out there.
Personally I would look any full metal "Pretendy AR" if you are after a CMMG, but I would make sure it uses the CMMG bolt carrier / group.
I have two Spikes from NWCP both of which are fine, but as mine are early they have their own propriety firing pin so i will be changing to a CMMG bolt Carrier sometime. I also know there was a period where Spikes got a bit of a slating for poor quality around their replacement bolt carrier to the one I have.
Saying the about about the Spikes, having handled both the Spikes and the CMMG they are both what they "Pretend" to be, AR's but in .22lr.
Check out all .22lrs out there, don't restrict yourself to one, the CMMG's of people I know run out the shop, others I have read on the tinternet have had issues, so you get lemons everythere.
I know SYSS are doing .22lr AR's and their products have always been to a very high quality as far as I am concerned, but there is NWCustomParts and others out there like Lantac, Rhineland Arms (I think), Bradley Arms.
To sum up the above, don't just stick to CMMG unless there is a definite reason too, have a look around at others and if you can try and get a test fire out of them.

Re: CMMG mk4 .22 Stockists
I have a Spikes Tactical ST-22 as well and it's perfect apart from one point, the BHOA. i.e. it locks back after the last round. As far as I'm aware only the S&W 15-22 and the CMMG offer this function, although I know there are work arounds for all the other manufacturers, they're no where near reliable IMO. Having said that, I don't need it, notice it or miss it, but it's worth mentioning.
In terms of reliability with the ST-22 and the blackdog mags I've probably had about 10 failure to feed/eject rounds having shot thousands and thousands of rounds. That might be an exaggeration as well, I think it's closer to 5, but 10 sounds more realistic!

Re: CMMG mk4 .22 Stockists
I am not sure that the CMMG has the BHOA anymore, I know you could purchase it but it only worked with certain mags (CMMG Evo I think). As far as I know only the S&W M&P15 offers turn BHO as standard.HALODIN wrote:I have a Spikes Tactical ST-22 as well and it's perfect apart from one point, the BHOA. i.e. it locks back after the last round. For me this wasn't a show stopper. I also use BD mags with no issues, but I understand the S&W M&P15 mags with the Better-Mag adapter you then can get the BHO function, but again horses for courses do you need BHO? Do you need M&P15 Mags, some will say yes they are better than BD mags, but then like Halodin I have no issues with my 10 x 10rd X-form mags, 6 x Gen 1 26rd Mags, and 1 x 50 Drum mag.
Re: CMMG mk4 .22 Stockists
I noticed Lantac offer this BHOA tuning service for the ST-22's as well, so if it was a showstopper there are options...
