write off g36 for m&p 15/22 or not?

#1 Post by bradaz11 »

just been offered a 2nd hand m&p 15-22 V1 which has had documented 500 rounds thru it, for £450. Is this about the right price? I've used a V2 and was very impressed, not sure on what is different between the two except the handguard isn't railed on the V2, which I much prefered tbh.

now I have my G36 which now will not feed a whole mag for love or money (hence why it hasn't been bumped as for sale. I don't feel right selling this to anyone as working. plus it is a lot slower to rack than something like an M4. I have been offered £150 for it not working by someone. this is without optic and only one mag. and original handguard / rail.

is it worth trying to get the G36 working or write it off and get the m&p?

The 2nd version is Keymod which attach's rail sections as you please using set screws I believe? V1 like a friend of mine has comes with a quad rail. Is it the MOE version by any chance? My friend's Iron sights (stock ones) aren't good so if it's normal version and you want to use Iron Sights, some Fab defense or MBUS and IBUS's are in order possibly. I believe you could replace the quad with a keymod easily though if wanted as it appears to take all standard AR hand guards. It's a good price regardless though.

no, it's a standard quad rail on the V1, and the v2 doesn't look keymod to me

other than that, I have no idea on the differences between v1 and v2

this is a v2, as I say, it's what I've shot, not shot the V1 which is what I'd get

which one cheaper? the smith would work out £300 trading the g36 against it.

i can't find any reports online for these g36's not feeding, the american's seem to talk about them eating brick after brick of ammo. the RFD i was chatting to the other day who offered me £150 for it had other g36 and said he'd take it for spares... now I'd be really p*** if i sold it for £150, he tinkers for a few days and gets it as reliable as others seem to be. but I don't know where to start with fixing any feeding issues as I can't seem to find anyone else having issues, although it is quite hard to find info on it.

is £150 worth me getting shot of it, or do I just stick in another variation, buy the m&p as it seems a quite good price (can't find any for sale 2nd hand though to double check. but then also need to get more mags for that.

and keeping the g36 if i can get it running, could chop the barrel down to 12" on it??

arghhh! i dunno lol!!

I meant that V1 has the quad rail and there still appears a rail section underneath to mount a forward grip of sorts.

Why don't you send it back to the manufacturer for repair even if you have to pay for it to be fixed? Then when you get it back decide if you want to sell /swap or part exchange it for the 15/22 that's what I would do if I was you.
