Remington 700 stock bolts

#1 Post by User702 »

Morning all.

After finally buying a new stock, I find myself in the position of needing some replacement stock bolts so that I can actually attach the thing to my action.

Currently the existing bolts (the ones that go through the traditional trigger guard/bottom metal thing into the action) are too long and I am wary of takign Mr. Hacksaw to them in case I need them later.

Does anyone know where I can find a new pair of screws (or has a pair) so that i can get the new stock on to my rifle?

Cheers,

James

Hi James. I had the same issue when I had a blueprinted Remington 700 made for me from a donor action. I didn't have a stock to use! When I bought a stock I needed to get action screws. When I tried emailing around and getting quotes I couldn't believe how expensive they were. I checked the drawing of the Remington 700 and found out what the screw dimension were. I then bought a set from the local DIY store for a fraction of the cost. I did have to cut the screws back as they were too long but that was 2 minutes using the dremel and a carbide cutter. After 800 rounds through the rifle they have not sheared and work perfectly fine.

Not too difficult to get. If you're stuck try Ebay - 1/4 x 28UNF

Thank you! Managed to get four replacements yesterday that should do the job. Well, at least they'll do the job when I have to cut them down.
