Just spoken to my firearms officer (Notts.) who states that .22WMR would need to be specified on the FAC...

I believe they are. They appear to be when in the hand, and you can't scrape the coating off with a nail like with minimags, although I haven't dissected one. They also list it and sell it as such.Blackstuff wrote:Are they definitely jacketed? Most .22RF is just copper washed and is basically a lubricant rather than anything that adds to ballistics/penetration
Winchester also do a FMJ .22WMR solid round that is definitely jacketed. I don't think anyone bothers for .22LR as you say.

Yeah they definitely look jacketed. I suppose they've got to justify the cost of it somehow!

Apparently if your cert states .22LR then your pretty much stuck with that but if it states .22RF then that opens up the WMR too
I thought this may have got changed to .22LR on issue of the cert but it arrived .22RF
Try and buy a WMR and see if the RFD lets you have it.
Re: Definitive Answer Please: .22RF / .22WMR
Not sure that an RFD would see it that way....Gazza wrote: Apparently if your cert states .22LR then your pretty much stuck with that but if it states .22RF then that opens up the WMR too
But then again I don't really need a WMR rifle.
Who knows..? aaarggh

A .22WMR is a .22 rimfire cartridge though???
Next time I'm in the shop I'll ask if he'll sell me a WMR on the strength of it
