I was talking paperwork, if you wanted to make your .22 lower into a .223 permanently.

Lantac to .22 and CMMG to .223?

I mean regarding paperwork, well aware how easy it would be mechanically. razz
It all depends on your FEO's knowledge of an AR/split receiver gun and their opinion on where the serial number should go/stay.

In my case my second lower receiver never had a caliber attached to it, it was just recorded as 'spare receiver' on my FAC. I actually had to get the forces armourer to explain what the hell I was talking about to the FEO as they couldn't grasp the concept of a split receiver gun.

Good luck!

I'm thinking you would need 2 more slots, to move each "converted" rifle into as you administratively calibre swapped them permanently.

Yeah, split into two slots, sell upper, sent off ticket, ask for new upper slot. Sigh. Etc.

Try one variation for all the possible combinations of upper and lower, they can only say no.

So the .223 upper and barrel fit straight onto a CMMG .22? Hmmm

Any milspec lower will take any milspec upper.

It's a popular combo, got one full rifle and one separate calibre upper. Don't do what an acquaintance on mine did, had a full .22 AR, bought a .223 barreled upper and then went out and bought a separate new lower. When FEO came round for visit found an extra rifle that wasn't listed on his FAC...

Cost him major ££££s to get ticket back.

So would the .223 upper and barrel fill my .223 slot or would it be down as spare barrel? Or is it more complicated than that.
Sorry for the thread Hijack, I'll stop after this reply O:-)

Depends on what your licensing area agrees, most have barreled action and NVN, no visible number, like a mod.
