Russian scope - base assembly
Mate has a Russian AK/Dragunov type scope, in green plastic box.
He wants to mount it to a non AK type gun.
Anyone know the options for this?

Re: Russian scope - base assembly
If it is a PSO/POSP scope......
They are pretty much either SVD or AK specific (SVD and AK mounts are different due to differences in the mounting rail on the two rifles)......but.....side rails are available to fit the Mosin and SKS but on the whole it isn't that easy to mount it to a rifle without a compatible side rail mount.
The clamping part of the scope that slides onto the rail are seperate from the main body of the scope and can be removed but the "legs" that the clamping part attaches to are cast as part of the main scope body......also if is a PSO type scope in a green box it may well be a Chinese Type-79 or Type-85-JJJ scope from a NDM-86 (Chinese Dragunov copy), as these were issued in a green case whereas the Russian PSO-1 scope wasn't.

Re: Russian scope - base assembly
They also do these scopes with picatinny setup - on ebay.
Re: Russian scope - base assembly
He's already got the scope, hence the need for a base...
Re: Russian scope - base assembly
I meant that there are different mounts so he might need base or side rail depending on which one he has.saddler wrote:He's already got the scope, hence the need for a base...
