The centre, where the pin strikes, is only a sacrificial bit of plastic. Once you have used it a few times it gets too cratered to offer any further resistance to the firing pin and should then just be binned.

Make your own. I made half a dozen dummy rounds and using a bit of old rubber (probably from a tyre), punched out primer sized bits and put them in the primer pockets. Trimmed them with a knife and they worked great for an illustrated talk. When the rubber starts to break up just poke it out and replace.
