Bremmer M16 / M261 Conversion

#1 Post by nfarmer »

I shoot a Bremmer M16 which is a dedicated .22LR but uses a modified M261 conversion for the bolt group. I get about 1 round in 25 causing an issue. I use Black Dog 25 round magazines for the M261/Olympic Arms.

Occasionally a round doesn't enter the chamber and the bolt doesn't go forward, whn I drop the mag the round is sticking straight up and a very clear impact from the bolt can be seen on its side, see below.

Not a show stopper but it's irritating, can anyone help?

Is it just one mag or same fault with all of your mags?

Borrow a modern boing or similar with slow motion recording, set it up to capture the action at the ejection port and record the failure. Might tell you what’s going on.

Can you post a video of the bolt group in operation out of the gun, show us how it works?

Does this fault stop the bolt against the damaged round and does the bolt then fly home when you drop the mag?

Pics and video of the fault happening certainly can’t hurt.

Feeding problem, the angle of your feed ramp is not optimal and the nose of the round is skipping the chamber, round gets caught up in the channel of the charging handle and is held vertical for the bolt to smash.

If you can source the metal M261 mags it will cure the problem, my Bremmer does the same with BDM mags.

Very interesting, I do have three of the M261 inserts and I think your right, drawback is the limited capacity. I'll have test when next at the range.
