Re: R Macleod & Son
Gregor carries some stock and sells mainly high end kit to the nouveau riche wannabe stalkers that pollute the highlands. Its all fashion and money, with new top of the range kit every year. If they eventually do hit a beasty I hope they appreciate what they've been shot by.
Was in having a bit crack with him when I was up last week, like all of us he isn't geting any younger and when the reminiscing starts the years seem long and far away. He was in good fettle though.

Re: R Macleod & Son
It was Gregor that I dealt with. I was so impressed with the delivery that I rang up the day it arrived to say thank you and was greeted with some suspicion when I told them who I was and that I wanted to speak to the person that I had dealt with the previous day

Re: R Macleod & Son
Some time age I bought my first decent scope an S+B 6x42. I was on a tight budget and looking around noticed the Mcleods had a Meopta 7x50 for similar money. I phoned and asked about it and after a bit of discussion Mr Mcleod told me that although their Meopta would do what I wanted, I be better with the S+B for the same money. I was really impressed with this advice and will definitely try and buy something from him when I have the chance.
Re: R Macleod & Son
Great shop and excellent service. I rarely leave with any money in my wallet. His second hand optics are highly recommended to those on a budget as many leisure type stalkers will trade in last years' scope for the new fancy, this years' scope.
Just don't get caught amongst the yanks when the estates bring them over (usually in the afternoons).....you'll have to be a very patient man.

They are indeed GREAT. Bought my S&B off them and had an amazing service.

I have to echo all of what is said above - I paid a visit to MacLeod's last week.
I bought a Swarovski Z6 3-18x50P BT L scope at £800 off of retail, and also ordered a Tikka T3 Super Varmint in .300 WSM at £200 off list - excellent service and prices.

Dromia, many thanks for the heads up on the appalling slip in standards at R Macleod & Son, it has been noted. Does this mean you have to go back to Rushlights or do you want me to post you a torch and some batteries?
