Shot gun cartridges question
Do you have to have a shot gun certificate to hold shot gun cartridges. If you buy them on the day do you have to shoot them all off. Does it work the same as firearms ammo bought on the range you shoot them off or they go on your ticket.
Re: Shot gun cartridges question
No, a SGC is not required to keep them, (provided they're not section 1 cartridges) but is needed to buy them.

Re: Shot gun cartridges question
As long as there are more than 9 pellets in the cartridge they are classed as section 2 ammunition and you can buy/hold any amount and they do not go on shotgun certificate (although you do have to produce it when you purchase them) and do not have to be locked in a cabinet.
Remember, we're all here because we're not all there!

I think it's 5 or more, not 9 pellets.Lever357 wrote:As long as there are more than 9 pellets in the cartridge they are classed as section 2 ammunition and you can buy/hold any amount and they do not go on shotgun certificate (although you do have to produce it when you purchase them) and do not have to be locked in a cabinet.

you need an least an SGC to acquire but not to possess. you could go an buy a slab of X with your significant other and have them take them back home for you (unaccompanied).
Re: Shot gun cartridges question
Are you making up rules? - Don't hold shotgun cartridges even if you have a higher category of licence.Hrun wrote:Do you have a SGC?

Where is the risk to public safety on this issue?

It’s more than likely that the police would take no view at all as no offence has been committed...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?
