Reworking a enfield.303 to pistol calibre

#1 Post by honda chris »

Hi all I'm after some advice.
I would like to have a full length bolt throw Enfield in a pistol calibre for indoor range use.
Firstly I need to acquire 2 shot out examples.
Any calibres to stay clear of?
.45 ACP it's tried and tested and barrels are available.so I was thinking
And possibly 9mm

Thanks Chris

I would consider other rifles to use as the base and action.
I have a k98 in 7.62 that could be offered up

Why whats the point you can shoot any military caliber rifle indoors on a 25 yard range using cast bullets and fast pistol powders. I shoot a .303, a 7.62x39, etc without any issues or alteration to the guns.

I shoot both a swiss K31 and a model 1889 with cast loads and Unique. Works well

perhaps his range, as mine, has a prohibition on downloaded full bore rifles ?

Why should / could it have a prohibition? if a rifle is under the MV & Energy why prohibit it because of its 'description'?
Quality control of Scottish Ethanol. & RDX/HMX

& my fav chemical is :-) 1,3,7-trimethylxanthine.......... used to kill frogs.... but widely consumed & in vast quantities by the French? Eh?

Reloading for pistol calibres is usually slightly quicker and easier than for rifle cartridges especially if using a progressive press. Perhaps that's the reason?

I’ve seen some ranges that won’t allow downloads, but wouldn’t give a good reason. It was down to the ‘older’ committee members basically just deciding they didn’t want it so no one else was going to have it.
