If it is the one pictured on Highwoods website I can tell you it has two Arsenal refurb marks on it, the plain square on the barrel shank says it's been through the 7th GRAU Arsenal in Riga (Latvia) and the square with diagonal line on the stock means it has been through the 1st GRAU Arsenal at Balakliya (Ukraine). The 1st GRAU mark is probably the most common refurb mark found on most Mosina's.

It is quite possible the stock is not the original to the action, hence different refurb marks.Usually Tula stocks have the "Tula star" on the right side of the butt, roughly where the refurb stamp is, so it is quite possible it is an Izhevsk stock.....not that it is anything to worry about, I had a 1939 Izhevsk that had been Arsenal refurb'd into a Tula stock. The stock appears to be pre-war as it looks as though the sling escutcheons are held in with two small screws, later wartime production ones were pressed in with no screws.

Here's two sites that may interest you and are a goldmine of information for the Mosin owner.......by the way the Russian's never use the "Nagant" part, it is simply known as the Mosina in the Motherland ussrflag

Looks good Bill, happy shooting and my your variation be speedy.

I don’t know anything about that rifle. I was just looking on the web site and made the connection. Follow Comrade Snayperskaya’s links for lots of Mosina goodness.
