In my day NAAFI stood for No Ambition And F***-all Interest - described a lot of people i served with over the years!

What does FTR stand for? I've seen it mentioned a few times usually in connection with competitive disciplines.

Depends on the context; stamped on a Military rifle in could mean "Factory Thorough Repair"

Or if you are of a competitive bent it could be "F" class- Target Rifle.

The former has been in use a lot longer than the latter.

F class Target Rifle, so restricted to .308 or .223 chamberings, max all up weight of 8.25KG including scope, bipod
as opposed to
F Open, any calibre up to 8mm with 10KG weight limit.
