I went on to work at Perkins Engines in Shrewsbury building CV12 Challenger and CV8 Warrior engines as well as the 12ltr inline 6 Eagle engine that was used in the Alvis CET and Leyland/Foden DROPS.......the injector pipes were a pain to fit and some of the blokes didn't like doing them, it was said they suffered from a condition called "DROPS Avoidance".

If you have a Series Land Rover it won't matter if the pumps at the garage are fried because you have already shown that you are no millennial snowflake and are thus smart enough to lever up the tank covers and dip a bucket on a string into the go juice. And there was me thinking you could just cut the underside of all the useless fried cars fuel lines and drain it out from under the abundance of non EMP-Proof cars...

You'd be surprised how resistant cars are. They're essentially already faraday cages.
Old school EMUs surrounded by metal in the engine bay would be fine I would think, it's the drive towards miniaturised computing and the sensors littered all over the place in modern ones that will be the failure mode.

Would be very interested to see if a Tesla would even start if the servers go down...

I would imagine a Tesla would just become a very big expensive paperweight in the event of an EMP or server outage!.

Aren't most stations tanks filled though small 3-4" pipes, you'd need to be pretty patient with your bucket/thimble I assume there are also larger apertures for maintenance and draining but given the explosive nature of the gases I doubt its a case of levering up a manhole and filling your boots/bucket!

Having a working vehicle in an area/country where none others are would make you a huge target and unless it was a decent 4x4 it would be a pretty simple affair of blocking roads to render it useless. Added to that that petrol doesn't last much more than 6-8 months in good quality storage and diesel only about twice that, motor vehicles are not really a zombie apocalypse option
