Test, Track and Trace 2.
With the government struggling to make its own bespoke ap legal never mind effective then the only other option would seem to be the google/apple version used across the world.
So if the government chose this route who would download and use the apple/google test, trace and track ap?

Yes, I would download and run it for the duration of the pandemic. We are exposed to various tracking devices every day of our lives, be it ANPR cameras to tracking cookies so one more is not going to make a huge impact to my life right now.

Thanks, but no thanks.

It's a dilemma.
Without comparing the relative effectiveness/features of different apps, both of the following are true:

- Tracking & tracing apps are very useful tools to limit the spread of the virus
There's never been a surveillance capability which, once developed, has not at some time been misused by the state or its agents for nefarious purposes

google already do it via maps and the like, so whats one more app by them, at least they are up front about it tracking you this time. And TBH, if I have been in contact with someone, I would like to know.

And don't use Google maps.
Don't turn on location services.
OK - against players like GCHQ, NSA etc you'd have a hard time escaping their beady eye if they really wanted to train it on you, but an awful lot of the meatware exploitation that is done by commercial companies is easy enough to hamper.

I don't use the required type of phone...............but I might re-consider if they were free gov. issue, as I don't really care who's watching me, and it'd be handy for using the Shotmarker electronics..........

Wouldn’t worry me, my data would be just lost in the masses they collect, pretty sure there’ll be plenty of others who’d be far more interesting and attract attention.

I will use the app to try and stop the virus spreading. My grand daughter has worked in intensive care for the last month and two days ago became very ill and I am awaiting news, please use the app if you can.
