NSRA bench rest has it's own rules, as opposed to what you might call true benchrest. NSRA rules say no rear bag and the butt must be clear of the bench and the front rest must be flat with no form of side support. I made a few front rests for my club from a basic Caldwell rest. Removed the sand bag, screwed a flat piece of wood to the metal plate and covered it with carpet, then added a couple of aluminium ears to stop the rifle accidently sliding off the side. Fit the rules and work very well. The original sandbag can still be used for use when shooting UKBR22 rules.
