Danish M-89DMR
I found this today, lurvely it is as well, all I know is it is an M-89 which is a Danish bolt action military issue rifle, it takes a rimmed cartridge and is 8mm, referred to here as an "8mm Danish rimmed thingy" (I kid you not!) The case is maybe 57-58mm long. The rifle is dated 1892 and is marked GEVAERFABRIKEN KOBENHAVN which translates to Weapons factory Copenhagen (ish) Finish is as the pictures, it has a side load magazine and probably takes 5 rounds, it has a magazine cut off on the left hand side and safety on the right. Rear sight goes out to 2000m and it has a bayonet lug under the barrel.
Can anyone tell me if this is an obsolete calibre in the UK and anymore about it?

I believe the calibre is S58
Nice find - there's practically none in the UK

Re: Danish M98 SoDMR
Yebbut is it an obsolete calibre in the UK because if so I can bring it home with me. Scary part is I mentioned it to someone who promptly opened his draw and produced half a dozen rounds for it, made a quick call and advised me he had just tracked down 100 original sealed and boxed rounds.....
Now if this is obsolete calibre in the UK and I decline the live ammo which I would have to do then it could be rather nice, and it is very sensible money as well.
I just had a look at the Krag's on Google and they seem to have different magazine covers however that could be an age thing.

Ovenpaa, if you can point me in the right direction, I don't mind making a few phone calls for you to find out if it is obsolete?
Unless someone can advise on here?

It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end!
Re: Danish M-89DMR
I've just checked the obsolete list, the Danish Krag was chambered for the 8x58R Danish Krag round, I couldn't find it on the list - so I guess it's Section 1
That's crap
However, that's just through me searching - someone else might be able to chip in

Re: Danish M-89DMR
Christel tells me Adam has something in 8mm x58R Danish and it is S1
Bugger....
Any idea what such a thing would be worth so I can consider pursuing it or not. I was thinking/hoping this would make a good rifle for Trafalgar plus some fun at 600 yards
