If you are making it or modifying it, repairing it or restoring it, it goes in here.

Might be a silly question but can they be made from different cases or do you use just one size?, for example can a pen be made using 7.62x54r cases?

Any case can be used but the most popular are .308 and .303.
I have just sent a batch of .308 and .303 once fired cases to a pen turner in Durham. He turns them into pens and sells them or auctions them. The proceeds go to the blind veterans association. I donate the cases free of charge.

Bullet pens. These have been created by one of my fellow pen turners. He specialises in bullet pens.

Very nice indeed :good:

Do you put a lacquer of some sort on the brass cases to stop them tarnishing over time?

Yes initially they are cleaned and polished with brasso. They are then cleaned with a solvent dried and coated with a lacquer then polished.

I have a stash of 7.62x54 cases not sure about bullets. You have got me interested I will see if it can be done. Anything to get me spending time in the shed is a bonus. I don't cope very well with being locked down with nothing to do. I'm used to having a busy busy workload and lifestyle. This covid thing is a bummer. Anyway.

teanews hmm what's next Yipee a project now where did I stash those cases. hmm

I did some initial measurements I will have to give this some thought the rim at the base (head) of the case is quite wide. Wider than is normal for a pen. But we will see.

I can not find the cases I am convinced I have a bag of them some were. But then I have mountains of stuff stashed all over the place. Anyway, I did the initial measurements using Wikipedia and some of the other components that will go into the pen. So unless someone is willing to donate a couple of cases and bullets the project is dead in the water.
