Shotgun / Rifle Stock.

#1 Post by Dorset_shooter »

Looking for a shotgun stock, anything you might have hanging around.

Recently purchased a lamp that arrived broken, so rather than throw away the gubbins I thought I’d try and make a lamp out of a stock.

The nicer the wood the better but clearly not too fused on type etc.

what have you got??

Bugger, I usually saw them up for the stove. I will hang onto the next one that comes in.

Is that guns in for disposal??

If you get one in that isn’t desirable for parts could you keep the trigger plate and trigger (minus assembly) so that I don’t need to fill the gap/ keep the look right?

Not sure that makes sense other than In my head?

That is not a problem, it will probably be a side by side. I have no idea when the next one will come in as we are in a lockdown however whenever and whatever, consider it yours.

I have a good range of long drills if you need to borrow one closer to the time.

This Jones type under lever SxS 12 Bore has come in, would be of interest? I can send you the stock, trigger guard and lock plates ex hammers to keep things legal if you wish.

I just gave it a wipe over with some oil and the wood looks OK.

Most of those old back action locks were beautifully made - I know they have had their day, it just seems a pity to bin craftsmanship like that. Need to be made into steam punk lamps and sold for enormous sums in Bond Street or something.
