I picked up this grand old set of scales at a local house clearance sale this week. All complete and working although scruffy. It's a Stanton AD2 C.1955'ish. Absolute cutting edge at the time, beautifully made, air damped movement and resolves down to .1 mg (.00154 grains)
I will eventually get around to giving it a spruce up.

Looking good as before thanks for the pictures keep them coming. They don,t make them like that any more.
Many years ago I worked on a treatment plant it ran 24/07 the main control room had a lab attached to it. The plant was manned 24/07 then computers arrived and DCS control systems. The whole of the plant was transferred to a computer DCS control system in a building a mile away from the plant. The control room and the Lab were locked up with all the lab equipment etc left in situ. All the balances in wooden cabinets with glass doors etc are still there.

I once earned my living using balances very similar to that, they were usually placed on special concrete benches because of vibrations.
