Wish I could shoot a sxs!!! I struggle with most shotguns as I shoot them like rifles!

That was my problem when I first started shooting clays

Got the hang of it eventually.

It's quite amusing as 5 of us from our rifle club also shoot clays together with the same sporting clay club.

I suspect some of the lesser Bettinsoli models were made by Rizzini as was the Browning Medallist and if not, they are very close copies with only details such as striker shape and geometry changing.

The Bettinsloi / Berreta / Browning post have answered a question that I was going to ask, for which I am grateful.



My S X S favourites are an Arthur Turner 12 Ga with 30" barrels and a12 Ga AYA 25, I still fancy a 16 Ga !

I found out earlier today that at present, Bettinsoli guns are a little scarce.

I checked up on mine, a Super Sport 30" and I purchased it back in 2007 - still looks near mint! And on GunTrader there is just one for sale which suggests anyone who has one, is keeping it (or they only ever sold two)!

Always thought that the early Medallists were made by Zoli and then later on by Sabbati

Thanks all - I guess in time I will have to learn to understand what does or doesn’t work for me in a specific gun. Hopefully a long and enjoyable road.

I can see this sport consuming more than just a Sunday morning.

SxS has two barrels! They will often have two triggers - on for each barrel. They handle differently and aiming is slightly different.

Typically SxS are game guns and designed to be carried for 8-10 hours and thus lighter. Barrel walls are a lot thinner and do get warm when firing in quick succession.

Best advice would be (if possible ) try shoot gun You interested in and see if it suits You. I had Bettinsoli Diamond brand new and sold it after month, couldn't hit anything with it. Beretta silver pigeon 20 bore was great, then I moved to Mirkou MK38 sporter, very good gun but bit chunky. Now for 10 years I'm using Caesar Guerini Magnus sporter 32inch and wouldn't swap it for any other gun.
