Coupled with this, actually physically shooting consultant 1/2” groups is beyond the skill set for an awful lot of people. Are you sure your performance level is up there?

An off the shelf rifle, with -PPU bullets and a half decent shooter, may not as the sum of its parts, be able to give you what you want. And changing or improving just one element may still not be enough.
I'm shooting a TRG22/Nightforce NXS 8-32x56. I've only ever shot two half inch groups at 100m and that was with the RO's Tikka Tac A1 in 6.5cm with his handloads (I have no idea what they were). So my logic is, if I can do it with that, I should be able to do it with mine. And I'd like to be able to do it consistently. I understand that the shooter can be the variable, but I want to improve the other aspects to give me the best chance possible, as I'd like to start shooting out further. So the tighter my groups at 100, the better chance I'll have of doing well when I start getting out to 800-1000 etc.

I've ended up getting hold of some 155 SMK palmas, so I'll see how I get on with them. Fingers crossed!

Well, you have all of the ingredients there!! A fantastic rifle, wonderful glass and a great bullet!!!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
