Hi All

#1 Post by essexboy »

Hi All,

New member here, i think you may be able to tell from where i come from. I'm mainly a casual f class shooter who is now restricted to low recoil rounds [ so all hope of world domination in the f class is gone], my main poisons are 223rem and 6mm dasher, i built my own rifle based on a tikka action [ i have a workshop full of things that make swarf] and am in the middle of building my own front rest. Great site and nice people :flag5:

Welcome to F-B(UK) Essexboy, I also enjoy turning perfectly good material into swarf. Are you making an F/TR or F Open front rest at present? I have just built an F/TR rest for the wife and have now turned my attention to an F Open rest.

Thanks,

I have made an f/tr rest, this is known as the 37p rest as thats what it cost me to make it [ a hideous T shaped device with ski feet] this was banned by my local club as unsporting.
Now i'm making a open F er which is totally off the wall as

1 I'm a tight git and wont lay out a monkey for a rest
2 i dont like those joystick jobs as i'm a bag squeezer and dont have a third hand [ i'm not from norfolk]

37p rest. I like that :good:

Mine did cost a tad more however it was built to the Vikings exacting requirements and had to come in at 750 grams or less, have a quick adjust on it and large ski feet which I managed to do. Target weight for the Mk2 is anything under 700 grams and better tracking.

I am building a joy stick front F Open rest but with a bit of a twist to the design however I have a few other things to get out of the way first including an annealing machine and numerous projects for other people including an interesting one for Spud.

If you are chambering your own rifles you are a few steps ahead of me at the moment

I am glad you said 20 hours. Where are you getting your CF from? I have been looking but it is a PITA to find at a sensible price.
