New rifle...finally

#1 Post by judders »

Well, it feels like an age since I first went along to an NRA open day at Bisley, but I finally collected my first rifle today. :shakeshout:

It's an Armalon PR, which is essentially a Remy 700 in a H-S Precision PST025 stock, with a few mods to make it better suited to Practical Rifle. I stuck a Harris 6-9 BRMS bipod on it, along with a set of Burris Xtreme Tactical rings and a Leupold Mark 4 10x40. When I have the cash, I plan to upgrade to a variable power scope, add a vertical forward grip and a shoulder strap.

True to tradition, I thought I'd share a few pictures.

Can't wait to get to the range this weekend. :good: :0037:

Judders, well done!
I bet it feels good to have come this far :shakeshout:

How come you think you need a "better" scope?

Looks good mate :good:   :good:

We expect a full report after the weekends breaking in session :0037: :shakeshout:

Word of caution whrn you get to buying a variable scope make sure the eye relief doesn't change with the zoom like Leupolds do!!

Not so much "better", just with variable mag that will drop lower that 10x. We sometimes shoot at short distances whilst standing and I'm told that target acquisition with a 10x will be much harder than with bowl or 6x. No mad rush though, this set-up will certainly do me for a while.

Great looking rifle :goodjob:

That Armalon should scare an awful lot of shiny custom rifles, they last Armalon I shot was a Rem700 base and it was every bit as accurate as my Accuracy International.
