Hello everybody....
Hello everybody please allow me to introduce myself, a shooter from near the M25/A1 junction in Hertfordshire. I started shooting rather late in life only 3 years ago, thoroughly enjoy it, and wish I had discovered it years ago. I shoot .308 at Bisley, hand load and am currently making the transition from TR to FTR as my eyesight is no longer sufficient for TR. My hope is to meet other Forum shooters and join in any range sharing that may be on offer, and my Grail quest is to find that elusive accurate and perfect 1000yd load. I appreciate that I do not have the vast depth of Knowledge most Forum members display but, you never know, I may know something of value!
Re: Hello everybody....
Welcome to the forum Old Chap.
Are you going to modify your TR to suit F/TR or start again with something new? I think the Holy Grail for many of is finding *the* 1000 yard load and understanding the wind on Stickledown with any degree of success.
I shoot the Lapua 155 Scenar at 1000 yards however the choice of bullet and weight for 1000x/.308 is quite emotive and I am sure you will hear many different opinions on the subject.
From a personal viewpoint I would like to read more about the migration from TR to F/TR

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools!!

Welcome Old Chap.
Does your handle mean that you are retired?
See the post Mid Week Range Hire.
Three of us are already meeting on Thursday 12th April. Six is an ideal Number
I shoot 'F' open. Have you joined the GB F Class Association?
If not check out the website, sorry can't master this ipad to post a link.
Anyway, welcome to the forum, don't put yourself down on the knowlege front - you found the forum didn't you?

Re: Hello everybody....
Thank you all for such a warm welcome, I feel at home already!
Christel, yes I will be contributing to discussions and joining in wherever I can but mostly I am on the learning curve and probably will be for the next ten years
Ovenpaa you are so right, mastering the wind is absolutely critical. I will however be starting my quest with the work already completed (Target Shooter etc), and the G7 BCs. There are a couple of caveats, the most important being that I do not want to burn my barrel out (Paramount rifle 30" 13T Krieger) with double base powders.
20series - Alan I can assure you that you will be the second to know, straight after my financial adviser!
John25, yes retired. Thanks for the range sharing info, going there right now in order to join you on the 12th of April.
Once again thank you all for the warm welcome
