The .222" is my calibre of choice for fox and roe.

I would look at the second hand market for good rifles. In .222" I currently shoot two BSA's, one with set triggers and a CZ. The CZ is a 1" group rifle at 100yrds and the BSA's are both 1/2" group at 100 yrds rifles. The BSA's are heavier than the CZ though. Check the local green ads paper for some good bargains. All three rifles in total cost less that your budget and they were bought over the past two years.

Ah well someones got to do the job I had no choice when my mother dragged me by the scruff to the recruiting office before I went astray! smile2. Yeah I think im going to hold out for a nice privatly sold one some of the gun dealers up here are asking silly money for ancient well worn guns, im in no hurry to buy am going to see someone local on wed to see if they would be kind enough to accept an RFD if and when I should need it if I cant find anything local, Im hoping this will be ok as I will most likely be buying my ammo etc there in the future.

Im not long posted into Lossiemouth and enjoying being back in Scotland after a lenghty NI tour and a few years in Germany so hoping to be here for a while and applied for my FAC as soon as I got back. Just been thrown a sandy tour and back in time for Christmas and hopefully a few days shooting.
Got some good target shooting clubs up your way, Cador and Strathpeffer spring to mind.....................Sandgroper where are you???

G'day Flash,

As you can see from my previous post I'm not far from you. I would recommend joining a club (Strathpeffer :good: )when you get a chance - it opens up a lot more opportunities for toys! ;)

Grampian aren't bad as far as firearms are concerned, there are one or two that can be a bit picky, but overall pretty good.

I'm sorely tempted with the thought of getting a 222 as well.

Edit: PS Stay safe during your upcoming tour. fingerscrossed
