22 WMR: Good for Badger?
A few questions for you clever oomans:
1. Is .22 WMR legal to own on a .22 Rimfire slot ? We have a free .22 RF slot on our FAC and can't see any reason why it should be restricted to only .22LR
2. Is the ammo readily available, and what does it cost ? There don't seem to be any places advertising it that I can find on a quick trawl of google.
3. Any knowledge of how accurate it is out to 100 yards ? 300 yards ?

1. Yes
2. Yes and about the same as 17HMR
3. Depends on what you consider accurate. Due to it's trajectory 125m is about it's point blank range

1 yes it is legal but on my ticket (cambs) it's specifically listed as a 22wmr
2 similar to 17hmr , quite a variety to from 30grain vmax to 50 grain fmj stuff
3 i've just had one bedded and shortened by riflecraft and most stuff is around the inch at 100m ? i'm told the 30g vmax stuff is good but i've yet to try it , it certainly seems to prefer the lighter stuff?
22wmr 40g federal =91ft/lbs @300yds 63'' drop
17hmr 17g hornady= 38ft/lbs @300yds 47''drop
not getting any case splits or exploding guns yet either!

Sounds worthy of further investigation....
Can anyone recommend a source of .22 WMR ammo ? There seems to be very little around in my locale...

Re: 22 WMR: Good for Badger?
We've been continuing our research oomans, and have narrowed the field down to a few contenders. These are:
CZ 455 FS - http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/80-rimfir ... 55_FS.aspx
or the CZ 455 T - http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/80-rimfir ... BHOLE.aspx
and, as an outside contender, the Tanfoglio Appeal
Thoughts, oomans ? Can you suggest something else perhaps?

For me the CZ 455 FS is a good start, legendary CZ accuracy and it looks like a proper rifle.

Re: 22 WMR: Good for Badger?
Is the Stutzen stocked version likely to be as accurate as the bull barrelled Varmint though ? I prefer the traditional full length stock, but the thumbhole model has that heavy barrel...
