In a former life. Haven't ridden one for 20 years but I very nearly bought a BSA M20 last year as an investment. Mem' sahib wasn't too keen so settled for a BSA Mk2 Airborne bicycle instead. Doesn't take up so much room :)

I find with my Schmidt that primary extraction is a problem with factory ammo (PPU). It might just be me being limp-wristed of course :roll:

I'd second that. I have a K31 and if you don't show it who's boss when you slam the bolt home you'll feel a right muppet when you all you get is a light click when you try to send it down range. Not that I'd know anything about that of course.

Before I bought mine I got the opportunity to shoot one open sighted at 1000yds on Stickledown last summer. Even I managed to turn in reasonable results with it. I wish I could say the same about the No.4 at the same distance (my fault for not getting to grips with the sights I know).

Yes, the S-R action enjoyed a surge of popularity in the mid-late 70s for target rifles. I can certainly remember shooting on several details at the Imperial during that period alongside S-R users, who invariably beat the heck out of my converted P.14 at the longer ranges. Heady days :roll:
