It's to comply with UK firearms legislation (Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997), or to be more accurate, to allow it to get around it by ensuring the overall length is at least 24" and it also has a barrel length of at least 12".

I certainly wouldn't be interested in one, I've owned a Buckmark LBP and shot the 1911 and neither were (for me) in any way comparable to shooting my pre-ban pistols or revolver. I've also shot the converted Taurus in .357 and .44 and found them to be poorly made.

The only thing I'm even thinking of buying now is the Westlake converted Armscor with the match barrel, http://westlakeengineering.com/15105.html and at £850 for a muzzle loader it's pretty low on my list.

phaedra1106, At 850 Quid a pop I wouldn't even consider it, I think I'd spend a bit more money and buy a half decent rifle instead. Still if it's all there is and it's a pistol one wants without the coat hanger and the fake can, what to do?

I really do miss my S&W 29, the Beretta I can live without!, I would however love a Sig P226 and shoot one every time we go over to Florida.

The toy at the top of my list is a .300 aac Blackout but that will have to wait until I see what Santa brings me this year

Now you're talking, Meles. Not sold on the whole LBP thing. Had the opportunity to acquire a Taurus in .357 for a very favourable price a few months back. Held it, waved at around a bit (in a safe direction, of course) and the whole thing just felt really unwieldy and, well, just wrong.

Had an LMR 1911 - very nice, but just didn't get on with it!

Fellow club shooters had the GSG ones and again was dissatisfied with the results!

So now we've all gone back to Taurus's - and haven't regretted it...

I always thought that someone should reproduce a Welrod as a LBP - at least the shroud would be useful for something and .32acp would be a nice round to shoot?

I have always liked the idea of the Welrod and often considered building one chambered in 9mm that conformed to UK legislation yet still looked the part, even down to the distressed finish, something to add to the never ending list. The good news is the drawings for the Welrod are readily available and with the benefit of modern materials it could work out rather nicely.

My neighbour is off to look at some original DeLisles very shortly and I have asked him to see if he can grab some pictures however there is some doubt over accessibility due to the original paint on the sights of all things!
