Re: CMMG .22lr
Ginger, i know you're just explaining the compatability between the formats but have you thought about the Catch22 bolt catch for the spikes? Does the same as the CMMG one but it actually replaces the existing catch and works with new black dog mags. ie long red followers
Downside is, it won't then work with 223 so you'd have to swap it out again..
NWCP sell them I believe.

Re: CMMG .22lr
The Catch22 Bolt Hold Open catch does not operate with a BDM Magazine, read the Blurb on the Catch22 Website. While the catch will hold the .22lr bolt back you have to manually engage and disengage it.
Re: CMMG .22lr
Here's the blurb
So as I said, if you have the new red followers you're good to go with it. At least that's how I interpret what they're saying. If you had to manually lock the bolt after last round, it wouldn't function like a real AR, as they say.
http://www.arcatch22.com/faq.htmlDoes this bolt catch feature a last round bolt hold open?
The bolt catch does not by itself, but Black Dog Magazine is coming out with a new magazine that features an enhanced follower. With the combination of the new magazines and the bolt catch, the rifle will function like a standard AR-15.

Re: CMMG .22lr
Got my CMMG .22 last week. Am very happy with it so far and with their customer service. I had an M&P 15-22 in the past but think this is even better than that.
Re: CMMG .22lr
This is the blurb:
"Please note: The Black Dog Gen 3 magazines WILL NOT WORK with the Catch22. The two pieces can be used together but the magazine will not engage the bolt catch after the last round is fired.
Right now, in order to get a true last round hold open, you'll need to use the 15-22 magazines and adapters"

Re: CMMG .22lr
The GEN 3s would be another matter due to the design I guess, and not something I mentioned. I agree it is a bit contradictory though, between the 2 quotes we've made. Perhaps I'll contact them and try to clear it up. They can't say it functions like a true AR15 with BDMs if the bolt is released when you drop the magazine!John MH wrote:This is the blurb:

Have you used the catch22 out of interest? I haven't so can only go on what they tell us.
Re: CMMG .22lr
Spoke at length to them (BDM), only mag that operates the Catch22 is the S&W MP15-22 mag modified with a spacer to fit an AR15 lower.
Re: CMMG .22lr
Looks like you're right, ARCatch22 just confirmed it! I take it all back!John MH wrote:Spoke at length to them (BDM), only mag that operates the Catch22 is the S&W MP15-22 mag modified with a spacer to fit an AR15 lower.
I personally think the website is a bit misleading. Disappointing as I have ordered a Spikes with one fitted. Might have to go back to plan A and look at the CMMG BHOA instead now :cool2:
