As far as I'm aware there is nothing to stop you sending it directly to a RFD for repair.
Not legally. RFD to RFD transfer.

For FAC/Non RFD holders, here in the UK you cannot send (courier) a rifle to an RFD however an RFD can return (courier) a rifle registered to you.

I've made contact with him, and he's going to look at my recalcitrant Rossi in January when we will both be freezing at Bisley (or drownded, depending).
