Re: Advice on .22 LR Rifles
The Sig is good, a friend of mine has one. If you haven't seen one there is a lot of plastic on them so make sue you handle one before you commit. I always try to blag a go when we're at the range, it has a grin factor. As has been said above they are not the cheapest of things so you could offset that with a BSA Martini International for your prone rifle. I paid £120 for mine and I love it, it gets me into the low 90's which is where my ability is at the moment.
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.

Not sure where you got that from, I said that a purpose built rifle sounds more suitable than a rifle built in which the aesthetics are the primary factor over function. The list was a rough idea of potential purchases, not an absolute shortlist. I don't have a problem with military style rifles, I said I have seen people being cautious towards them - the GSG5 in particular.Sim G wrote:saddler wrote:

I posted before reading Jon's comment above. He has q point, why list military style if sporting is what you're after?
So far, it seems the general consensus is towards the SIG 522 and a BSA International. I will keep an eye out to see if there are any locally. Thank you all for your input. smile2

Re: Advice on .22 LR Rifles
Although i'm one of the biggest proponents of 'black' guns, unless you've really got the horn for a particular model i'd go for a 10/22. You can modify them to the nth degree, and can tart them up til your credit card melts! If you want to give them a proper military look you can also buy a Maruader stock/kit so that they look like a H&K G36 tongueout

Im slowly leaning towards black guns and one which i've used with various members is the little Chiappa M4. Each one i've used has been 100% reliable and just great fun to use. They're even screw cut so will take a moderator too!
