Nah, .30 calibre is no good, must be for a 7.62x54 Mosin.
7.62 is 30cal i use my 30cal snake in my 308, 303,30-06, and 762*54 mosin

7.62 is the calibre ie diamater of the the bullet which is .30 of an inch
so the snake will fit down the barrel of any rifle in that calibre range

Maybe he's concerned about the length of the string, as alreadyady mentioned it can be trimmed to length with a knife or scissors.
