So, if we got rid of the English Channel, thus squeezing Italy up to get Adelaide out of the football position, we could fit Europe into the bit of Australia where nobody at all lives (except for Alice)?
Can we do that for all the politicians in Europe, and we'll take the same number of kangaroos as a straight swap?
Kangaroo is a lot like deer, when dead and cooked.
Incidentally, given the distortion inherent in the classic school Mercator projection, I'm not surprised people get relative sizes wrong. I only knew about map projections (at age about 7) because my father was a RAF Navigator. Next time I encountered the subject was self taught doing a surveying thesis to complete my degree.

Nearly all 2D maps show dimensions and angles wrong...you need an accurate globe to really see it properly.
When you look at a wall map or atlas, you'd never think Edinburgh was further west than Bristol.....

Don't they teach Albers, Peter or Townsend projections in ooman schools then? Of course, from underneath, they all look pretty much alike and the seas aren't a problem to us with a decent damp proof course in the tunnels...

I'd thank you for the link, but don't have the wall-space.

In 2007 I took a one way 18 day road trip starting in Sydney & ending at cape tribulation in northern Queensland.
It was without doubt the best holiday of my life, the aussies have a fantastic country & lifestyle.
I loved Sydney & the blue mountains, fraser island, the Whitsunday Islands & the daintree rainforest which were just a few highlights, it should be on everyones bucket list & is high on my list of must revisit places.
Do it before you get to old for the 22 hour flight & if you get chance do a couple of days in Singapore on the way home to ease the jet lag on the return leg.

Great country, just a shame about climate and the corresponding wildlife!
