Or would as much practice in wind reading/shooting and time spent on ammo prep and load dev as possible help?

Or we could just use targets that are twice the size...oh, yes, some do dont they :55:

Well someone had to bite
Chris you misunderstand my post, O:-) nope if you threw money at it you couldn't just rock up and win tongueout (Hmm not sure that came out right tongueout ) on the other hand at the level you shoot at could you make do with a £100 rifle and £50 scope? as far as I can see, competitive shooting is always going to be a costly business, after all you are trying to get smaller and smaller improvements through engineering out variables and that allways costs, then of course, on the day there are wind changes and enviromental conditions to take into account etc,etc,etc.............
My level...what you mean down and dirty. I am pretty useless mate with the odd moment of brilliance thrown in (when I lend my rifle to someone else usually does it).

Acually my take is more basic these days. I see folk changing this and that and they still dont undertand why they aint winning.

The best bullet available (sometimes based on the grounds that X won with it and it has to be the best cos it costs the most right!!?).

The best scope they cannot afford (Like the march I aint getting...The Sightron works).

I have stopped spending until such a point as I can actually appreciate what is me and what is kit, an duntil I have learned to extract everything form what I have...its going to wear out then before I reach that point

But when they get a gizmo that stops odd gusts on stickledown I may save up for one :good:

If with the basic kit you cannot group to its capability or read the wind, well, will a minute advantage help if you are dropping 10 point anyway?

Course, the kit has to be fit for purpose to start with.

25   Cheers Mate. happy days indeed.

I shot a comp with it a few years back (500/900) - won. Anyway Mrs T had a wee go after the event with 10 rounds mil surp RG and beat MY results at 900 yards with it just by some clever hold over and high left aiming in short doing as she was told to do! You gotta love her eh 25.
