I know of a few people that use them. They're good, but they put you in open division against the box mag shotguns..

No
I know of a club that runs an unofficial PSG match with section 2 shotguns.
What about a Zulu division using single shot greener martinis! Lol.
I know an old boy that rolled up to our clubs casual PSG day with his greener, came last, but had fun!

Ok, thanks for the ideas on the belts. The clip one looks like an easy to use one to start with.
Although I can see myself getting used to using a load two belt quite quickly.
I've just ordered 25 dummys from thingywotsit, so will have to get practising. ( I had a few loading errors! )
Our club runs a pretty casual PSG system. Basically we all turn up and have fun.
Most had FAC semis or three shot semis. There were several people using O/U's which as has been mentioned, weren't as slow as you may think. Some of the seasoned guys had most of the problems with
mags jamming.
btw: What is the thing about opening up the load port?

I've been called some names but never been called thingywotsit before
Opening up the loading port is done so that if doing load 2 or 4 it's much easier as it puts the cartridges in your hand much closer to the mag tube. When you are next at your club see if you can find 2 people with the same gun with one having been worked on and the other standard then try loading 2 and you should see what I mean, it's also advisable to get the shell lifter welded too on some guns to stop you from ripping your thumb to shreds.
My club owner won't let anyone with a 2 shot o/u or side by side anywhere near his range as in his words if the licensing authorities see we can do this with standard shotguns then they could argue that we don't need sec1 shotguns.

Oh dear... getting technical now... shell lifter welded!
I know what the shell lifter is, but what do you weld it to?

I will take a picture tomorrow night of my M2 that has a welded lifter and my wife's 1301 which is totally standard so you can see the difference unless anyone else beats me to it.

Here's a Benelli M2 3GN edition.
Loading port has been milled and the lifter welded, Benelli USA built this shotgun in their custom shop.
And a bigger version here with an AR-15 to keep it company.
And here's me using both of them together

Shooting from a vehicle... Now that definately adds a bit of fun. I think our RCO wont be offering his to use. It would probably end up with some new air vents.
I can see the beveling, but I fail to see the lifter mod. What is the purpose of "welding" the lifter?

Welding the lifter just reduces the gap between the end of the lifter, and the receiver. Some lifters have a circular cut out, some are flat, but if you're loading quickly, or your technique isn't spot on, you can catch your thumb or finger between the lifter and receiver. It hurts. Lots of blood.

Get in that deep end and SWIM you swine!
Before suggesting heavily modding guns etc etc maybe the bloke should have more than ONE go at PSG first
Just buy the prodec clip belt from Norman Clarke and see how you get on with that. Shoot a few more matches and speak to as many people as possible about the different loading techniques and the belts that they require. I'm yet to meet anyone who shoots PSG that won't talk a glass eye to sleep if asked about their equipment or gun.
FYI - We very occasiaonlly use S2 guns at our local shoot including O/U's, certainly makes things different! Hoping to get one in before the end of the year
