On the induction night, the club will normally take you through the range procedures and safety rules. Make sure you understand everything that has been said. Nobody will think you're a numpty if you ask questions - it's more likely to be the opposite. If you need to make notes, then make notes.

Our club has roughly a 1 to 1.5 hour theory session covering the basics of safe weapons handling, range etiquette and range drills. At the end of the theory session, new members are taken to the range where they normally shoot 50 rounds (.22lr). If they survive that without killing themselves or another club member, they will be encouraged to come back. ;)

If there are old photos of people on the wall, don't
insult them and mock how they look. They will be the
honorary members of the committee and will get to vote
if you stay or not.

Well, I've gone for my first session. It was pretty dicey getting there through the fog on such on Wednesday but once there, I had a great time. First time shooting semi-automatic which was gorgeous and it seemed to go pretty well. Thanks for the advice, lads.
