Still awaiting for confirmation that the lower can be left handed, not really clear. If it can then I'm making the change.

It is just when I read your posts about these shotguns they sound like a heap of junk.

The same could be said of the AR15 rifle or 1911 pistol - both are immensely popular and effective comp. guns but not without extensive modification.

Excellent write-up on developing a stock gun to bring it to competition level - and proving it works on the PSG circuit.

When I dabbled in practical pistol years ago, the 1911 was indeed popular and came tricked out in many forms to suit the shooter.

However many guns were competitive with out changing the slide or functioning parts and the issue magwells didn't need fettling to operate. yes you could add guides and such like but the stock pistol still was competition functionable from what I saw and shot.

The AR seems to be more like the Bora in its need for bits if what I see people on here doing with the system.

I think there is a difference between adding parts to help you shoot, gain time etc but when it comes to replacing major parts I have to question suitability appropriateness..

The Bora 99 works as intended when used with the supplied 5rd mags. However, this won't get you far in practical shotgun. You need higher capacity.

If you want to use aftermarket (larger capacity) magazines, and replacement stocks, grips, triggers etc... you need to change the lower. Or fettle the standard lower.

Fit for purpose if you use it straight from the factory.

But not fit for purpose for practical shotgun.

It wasn't designed to be used for PSG, but has been adapted to be. Much like the majority of shotguns which are used in PSG, except a few noteable exceptions.

Even the few exceptions need work to make them 'race guns'

My BR99:-

Gun £500
Mags £120
Vortex Sparc 2 £150
Belt and pouches £30
Opened up the mag well myself (needs a bit more really)
Added extra weight in the stock.
Shortened mag springs.
Reliability - excellent if I keep it clean.

I've shot a comp with it so it's competition ready.
Competitive?? I can safely say it's not the gun holding me back at this stage.
(With practice I could be mediocre. )

I love it.

Agreed, I like shooting things, for me, PSG was too much about re-loading, I got frustrated with knocking everything down in a quick time then ruining it all with slow reloads, I have limited time as it is and I admitted defeat (as it is that really) and went for a box fed gun. Now I enjoy shooting with it.

For competition all it needs is the gun, 3 x 10 round mags and a red dot, you dont even need to fettle the magwell if you run MKA mags, I'd say if there ever was a shotgun that was fit for purpose its the BR99.

I would say it is fit for purpose as it works as it should without any issues with the supplied 5rd mags, its the MUPPETS that did the measurements and tooling for the 10rd mags that need a good slapping .
