I have a Vortex Sparc 2 on my BR99. Works very well. I like the 2 MOA dot. No problems apart from the dust covers come off whilst shooting. Solution - take them off before you start. I could glue them on but don't feel the need.

I did try an ebay Eotech lookalike which I had kicking around and sure enough it fell to pieces when used on a shotgun. Worked Ok initially though. Probably would have been fine on a .22.

For reference, the Strikefire 1 I had was an original, did thousands of rounds of .22 and a few hundred of 5.56 on a CQB course. Then got killed after about 80rds of 12g on the bora.
Now done around 300 witha strikefire2. Touch wood..

Do you guy`s find that its better with a higher riser on the gun ?

I put a red dot, normal fitting, and found the dot was way to high in the glass to shoulder properly.
Or is it me, my scope on my .22 is low an is ok. the stock on the BR99 must be higher.

Everyone's different but good starting point would be aligning the centre of the scope with the original iron sights (co-witness) as this would be how the rifle was set up.

My Bora is comfortable with a much higher sightline than my 10-22.

The nice thing with the Vortex red dots is they they are all rated for 12G shotgun. So if one breaks, send it back :)

Its the straight stock design that forces you to need higher sights, unlike a traditional gun (particularly shotguns) which have a drop in the comb of the stock.

If i really press my cheek into my BR99s stock the EOTech i have on it is actually slightly too high but its more comfortable to shoot with a loose/medium cheek weld anyway

After deciding not to destroy the Walther red dot & thinking that the Sparc(I) didn't quite fit the bill, I ordered a Vortex Spitfire on Sunday & it arrived today.

Apart from the battery (CR2032) being DOA I'm very happy, although less so that I managed to get it from a well known international airsoft retailer (with free 48 hour shipping from the UK) for less than some vendors on here troutslapping.

The height with the high mount is spot on for my grip & cheek weld on the BR99 & the dual ring reticle (for me) seems to lend itself bang on ;) for a shotgun.

I even put some BUIS on to see if it would co witness & it did, but that's not something that I would generally run as a setup.

The brightness settings of 3&4 in both red & Green, well I can see no real difference, however 5 is VERY bright and probably only of use on the sunniest of days (not in UK then :p )
Settings 1-3 are absolutely fine to use & even non illuminatd you can pick the reticle out against most things that aren't too dark.

It's not an Eotech but at half the price & lifetime warranty I'm happy with it so far, now off to the range Sunday for some slug fun shakeshout

Just watch out its not a fake! Vortex do have fake clones floating about these days.

Where did you get it from?

I doubt it's a fake, as these guys have been around since '98 & have always been OK with previous orders.

I also found you need a riser for a red dot on the BR99, especially if it is already a low profile reflex dot like the Burris FF3.
A FF3 on a 1/2" Yankee Hill Machine riser will still sit too low, but if the FF3 is in the Burris Flat top mount it will be dead on perfect (well at least for me). I find it helpful also to mount the sight further down the rail, it's faster to get on target and is more comfortable to aim.
Once I have tested it properly I will post pics.
