1/4 UNC?? thats 20tpi and 8 over .410" comes out at 19.5 tpi if my maths works?

1/4unc is the thread used for tripod / camera mounts isn't it?

I would guess at 1/4UNC as well however it could be an odd metric x1.25 given its origins.

It IS an odd Euro/Metric pitch, hence the delay in my project idea of having some made up.

The rifle is a German one made in 1899 if that helps. Thanks for all the assistance guys.

So do you know what the pitch is.
