I don't think it was brought to the surface, my guess is it followed the fish up.

You could be right there...it did look swollen and to be having difficulty descending...often you don't get to see deep-sea creatures at the surface unless they're sick or injured.

I'd have had a crack at it myself. Imagine having steak sized servings of fried crispy squid. Delish~!
Or tag it and track it, who knows where it could end up.There's always the possibility that the one in the video is a tiddler compared to what may be down in the depths.

I enjoy a bit of calamari myself but creatures like this should be conserved and studied.
A few years back some marine biologists tried attaching cameras to sperm whales, to see if they could film the giant squid (though the one in the clip is a 'colossal' apparently) at depth while the whales hunted them...they got some interesting footage before the whales got fed up with the cameras and pulled them off (for each other; which was interesting in itself)...

...scientists reckon there are plenty of squid down there in excess of 50 feet :p

So maybe the Kraken is not too much of a myth after all? Sometimes alot of stuff gets mistaken for other stuff. Some people suspect the Loch ness monster could be an Oarfish. They're big buggers themselves.

You could even deep fry, even my local fish and chip shop does some. I still want to know if the Kraken, Aliens and a MP not involved in a sex scandal exist. How likely am I to find all those?

What about the Aliens and the politician not involved in a sex scandal? Can I still believe they exist lol ? And since we really are clueless about what's down there, I do wonder though..... all myths have a basis in fact Dougan, next you're gonna tell the 11:15 Pm train from Sheffield to Leeds doesn't exist :o ?

Everything exists in an infinite universe Sixshot...however a giant squid the size of the Kraken is highly improbable on this earth anymore...

Too true, I was just messing with you for a bit, besides it's nice to have something light hearted to talk about after all the sky is falling from what may/may not happen with the consultation. I appreciate these light hearted moments to be fair. I have a funny story to tell, not far from where I live many years ago, a group of people including a policeman (he noted the event down in his notebook) saw an object in the sky that moved backwards and forwards with with lights flashing but no sound. I saw something similar a couple of years ago. Can't say what it was but I was interested and sat there in the middle of the road in my car for as long as it was there. Kinda gave me hope a bit too :D .
