I have never had any problem with any .17 HMR case. Maybe I've just been lucky.

The quality of earlier 0.17 ammo was pretty bad. Split cases frequently reported on other forums. Incidents reported, unfortunately, of rifles being wrecked due to a round, following a squib, being chambered & fired. Bullet from squib being about 2 or 3 inches up the barrel. Fortunately did not read of anyone suffering serious injury as a result of such an occurence.

From my 1st 500 brick of Hornady 0.17HMR there were 127 cases with split necks. After reading so many postings I actually spent an hour or two inspecting each & every round in the 500 brick.
