As clays is an automatic condition and nothing is on the cert to say I can't it would be very hard to say I am in the wrong.
....,but NOTHING on the cert. to say clays IS allowed
Check with the clay ground in question = some may not allow S.1 shotguns to be used UNLESS the condition for clays IS on the FAC
Stupid rules - but what do you expect in the UK??
A couple of clay grounds in Essex ban sec one shotguns because of the shots available

Sounds like an excuse. They really couldn't just say "You can only load 2 at a time"

It's in most clay ground rules that. My father in law had me borrow him a semi when he came with us thinking that he could have three shots and wipe the floor with me, I pointed out the ground rules, cue sulk. He didn't beat me but then again he could have had a saiga with a drum mag and not hit anything. Later I was told it was cos the gun "didn't have a scope on to dial it in" stick to your p**f in a can guns pappy!

My FAC specifically also states that I can use both my Sec. 1 shotguns for clays. They get regular use at one clay shoot (on a friends farm). Our local shooting ground doesn't like sect 1, long magazine black shotguns, but will allow their use providing you only load 2 shells at a time.

I am police scotland.I asked for practical shotgun and clays, even though clays should be automatically granted.when I got my fac back claysw as not mentioned.I contacted flo and was told as it doesn't specifically say clays then I was unable to use it for that even though clays are automatically given.I had to hand it back and get it specifically written on

On a slightly different note: I have a Section 12g on my FAC. I applied for only a 12G not noting down wether semi auto, pump of SbS. It came back as a 12g Self Loading. I am wanting to buy a 20inch SbS Pedisoli Wyatt Earp. ? Am I covered or do I need a variation to cover the Section 1 SbS.

Nope, you'll need to put it in again for a 1-4-1 variation

What does the actual variation say? Should it simply say, "12 bore shotgun" under the firearms to be be acquired or purchased, I'd say you were authorised to do so per se, however, what was the original good reason granted for? Target? Practical? This may be where they get p***. Throw a phone call in Tuesday.
Have you seen the Wyatt Earps?
