Sako Quad with two barrels or two separate rifles?

I've only got an 8 gun cabinet and I'm filling it up..!! Will need to get a bigger cabinet for a couple of rifles, mind you I did like the CZ 452 varmint barrel you've got for sale, that muddied the water a bit more Dromia!

Ummm, well obviously you've got to re-zero the rifle for calibre changes.... I simply did 10 barrel changes (between .22lr and .17HMR) and found the average windage and elevation values (there was a variation of less than 2 clicks for both), wrote them on a piece of paper and stuck it to the inside of the eyepiece scope cap. That said mine stayed will the .22lr barrel 90% of the time so if you're not going to get much of use out of another calibre its probably worth just buying a less expensive rifle, CZ?

Fair point Blackstuff, on the other hand one of the guys that I worked with said that once he had and shot his Annie HMR his 22 pretty well sat in the cabinet gathering dust and that it was pretty well his go to gun, I haven't shot the HMR yet so I have to go on what I've been told and would still expect to use the 22 more but time will tell. The barrel change does tick all the boxes as the crows here sit and annoy me at 80-100 yards and the longer legs of the HMR would get the job done and I wouldn't have to tell the better half that I bought 2 guns, only one gun and a barrel..!!

I have one of these with the same barrel options as you mention. Personally I am delighted with the build quality of the gun, had it four years put a lot of 22 through it both subs and full power 22, as previously mentioned there are some brands of 22 that won't extract to clear the chamber of a live round. If leaving the field I normally remove the mag and fire the live round into the ground and then clear the chamber. I don't use the .17 option much but it is stunningly accurate, but wind vulnerable as this calibre is known to be, if I zero it on our indoor fifty it will put one round on top of another. I have heard mixed reviews about the dedicated scope, I have not used it personally. You can easily adjust between the two with a mil dot scope and holding over, this is of course made easier by sticking to particular .17 and .22 loads to minimise variables. You don't mention how much of a 'bargain' this is. if you are limited by cabinet space then it is an option. However if you are thinking of taking one gun out and switching barrels in the field for different target opportunities then I would advise you that this is not practical. You have to obviously carry both barrels, the Allen tool, different mags and, if you are using a scope with a large objective lens or of a particular length you will find it difficult/impossible to change the barrel without removing the scope anyway unless you use mounts that will give you enough clearance. It comes down therefore as a bit of a compromise as many dual purpose options tend to be. My guess would be that with the gun, both barrels, mags and the scope this wouldn't be far short of £800 if much less go for it, if much more then Imwould probably opt for two separate rifles. Good to hear that you're pleased with the rifle Topdogpippen, the gun is on the market for £600 which I thought was a good deal. After reading what you say I'm leaning towards it as I won't be field changing barrels. Thanks for the input

I don't think you will be disappointed and not at that money. Last time I saw one of the scopes sell (not asking price, selling price) was at £225, the barrels are nearly £200 new now but seem to fetch £100-120 low use s/h and mags go for about £30 s/h so you are getting the gun and the other barrel for £250 which is a bargain, even if you don't like it, which I doubt, then you won't lose money on it. As a note, if it comes with any 10 shot mags don't load them with 10 consider them 9 shot. They get a bit spring bound with 10 in and that can result in poor feeding for the first few rounds. Not been on for a while but have bought the quad, will get some photos up once I figure out how to do that. Also got a SAK moderator with the rifle so well pleased at the price. Hopefully I'll get out tomorrow and get some different ammo through it to see what it likes.
