This is the old school, Russian way of zeroing AK rifle in 7.62x39mm.

1. Be at 100 meters distance.
2. Must have control target with dimensions: 25 cm wide x 35 cm high, place target on a 1.m high x 0.5m wide backing board.
3. Rear slider should be set to 300 meters settings.
4. Aim at the centre of the bottom edge of the control target.
5. Shoot 5 shot group.
6. Group location should be 25 cm above poa from the bottom of control target.
7. Once zeroing is done, move rear slider to 100 meters settings.

Notes: 1 mm of adjustment in lateral movement of front post = 26cm at 100 meters; 1 full rotation of front post = 20 cm (screw in to move POI up and un-screw to move POI down)

NOTE: if you don’t have access to 100 meters range, for 100 yards distance, that bullet group should impact at 23 cm and not 25 cm. So it is 2 cm difference.

From Soviet AKM manual.......

Hmm...he may have a problem to find a 300m mark on his rifle-maybe better to say any mark/sign past 200m...? ;)
In Polish manual only 4 round are used for zeroing-the rest is the same-JB

How would it be a problem to find the 300m mark on his rifle?.....it's the one with a "3"........also the "n" (Cyrillic P) setting on Russian rear sights or "P" on Romania AKs in a 300m "battle sight" setting that also sets the rear sight in the same position as the "3" setting........the battle sight setting allows the shooter to hit a target centre of mass from 0-300m without having to adjust the rear sight position for ranges under 300m.

Translated version of Soviet AKM manual, these are good as they have the original Soviet illustrations etc, I have one for the AKM, Mosin, SKS and the Dragunov.......
