I don't lock up my primers either,they are in a tough thick plastick storage box,in a cool dry place! My powder goes in the ply box with the black powder,and the 30 odd boxes of bullets are in the shed! The expending bullets are locked away with the ammo,as a box of 50 expanding bullets,counts as one complete made round,which seems silly to me!

I always thought expanding bullets counted as 1:1 so if you have 50 they count as 50 towards your limit to hold but as I don't use the things I could be wrong.

Our primers are locked away only because I have a large lockable wooden box with room for powder and primers, in fact it has other assorted powder throwing items including a Harrell, stand and Lyman scales and some black powder stuff. I also keep my RCBS primer trays in the box in ziplock plastic bags.

Personally I never have a problem with buying ammunition as my counts are usually between 1000/1200 and I think Christel may even have 1500 for one of hers but I have heard some hunters with expanding ammunition are not allowed to hold such numbers.

I was in a local gunshop some time ago when a guy buying ammo said that he wanted to buy quite a bit - 40 rounds of .243win actually, and he was serious because he normally only bought twenty at a time but had persauded the police to up his allowance.
I couldn't keep a straight face.

I know a local that buys one box of 22-250 and that is enough for the foxes in his area...for one year, other than that he just plinks bunnies with a .22LR CZ
