The target backings are 3 layers of conveyor belt, underneath the targets were dozens of flattened 9mm bullets.
The only ricochets are from people who miss completely, of which there were very few.

Very cool. Were they happy to let you shoot on a UKPSA competition license?

They run through a new shooters briefing and make sure that new shooters are spread through the shooter squads with an experienced RO.
After that it's learn by doing.
